This volume initiates a series of great breadth: the history of world economics from antiquity to the present. Such a project could not have been realized without an international team of scholars and specialists in many disciplines, who have combined their specific interests with the underlying inspiring criteria of the work. This first volume ranges over a vast geographical, thematic, and chronological horizon, from the Neolithic to the Early Middle Ages, from the Mediterranean to the Far East, and from production techniques to economic thinking.
