The essential insight into understanding Marx’s Capital today.

Karl Marx’s Capital is one of the most influential books ever written — and one of the least read. Long, complex, and demanding, it is often cited, praised, or condemned, but rarely approached directly by non-specialist readers. Roberto Fineschi offers a new and accessible engagement with Marx’s masterpiece. Without simplifying or distorting its theoretical depth, the book reconstructs the inner logic of Capital, guiding readers through its key concepts (commodity, value, surplus value, accumulation, circulation, crisis), while showing why they remain essential to understanding contemporary capitalism. Drawing on Marx’s original texts and on decades of scholarly work, Fineschi explains how the dynamics described by Marx continue to shape today’s world, from financialization and technological change to ecological crisis and global inequality. Written for a broad but intellectually curious readership, Face to Face with Capital makes one of the great classics of modern thought readable —without losing its complexity or critical power.
